A new year is the beginning of a lot of new things. We don’t realize it sometimes but our mind automatically thinks about the things that happened during the year. There are disappointments, awkward situations, achievements to be proud of, and improvements as well. So when our brain is in the reflection zone that is the best time to think and make resolutions for the new year.
Although going back and changing things is not possible working on things you don’t want to and want to happen is possible.
“Be the change that you wish to see in the world.”
― Mahatma Gandhi
New Year resolution ideas
If you search the internet you will get thousands of New Year’s resolution ideas. But don’t fall for those and get a new gym membership or buy a club holiday. It will be a waste again. Instead, plan for the things as per your last year’s achievements and improvements.
Here is what you should think of while making New Year resolutions
- How were you mentally placed this year?
- Were there any health concerns this year?
- What are the new things you learned this year?
- Were there any newly made relationships this year that are to be treasured throughout life?
- Was there any self-care routine you followed?
Ask these questions and you will get the ideas of resolutions to be made this year.
Like if you had a hospital visit for a spike in your sugar levels make sure to give your health a priority and start exercising. Read how to lose weight the right way for more help.
A Breakup teaches you to be careful and put off toxic people from life.
You missed that promotion or upscaling opportunity this year, make sure to learn a new skill set this year that will help you level up.
Above all how were you mentally placed this year? How happy were you doing things? Were you giving yourself a pat on the back when things went right? Any self-care routines you followed?
“We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.”
― Maya Angelou
New Year resolutions for students
Students should definitely have a resolution every year. So that if no one at least you know where are heading and where you need improvements.
“If you tell the truth, you don’t have to remember anything.”
― Mark Twain
For example, if you are weak in Communication make sure to learn this skill online. Read books. Socialize.
I didn’t have the privilege of the internet boom while growing up that is available for this generation. So anyone now can learn anything that they want by just scrolling through some sites.
Students have everything at the click of a button when our generation had to hit the libraries for the basics.
The only thing you need to know is there is an improvement from the previous version of me.
You don’t need to have those big goals but small things that make all the difference.
Here are a few New Year resolution ideas:
- Start writing
Make a to-do list every day. You won’t believe the improvement in your productivity. Ticking the things done gives the satisfaction of another level.
You may check anything that suits your work style.
- Have a decluttering schedule
Even if you don’t like it put on an alarm for 10-20 mins and start decluttering your closet and organizing things around. You will thank yourself at the end.
- Read a book
Make sure to read a new book every two months. Wow! That would be a game-changer.
- Learn a new Skill/Hobby
Learn the skill or Hobby you wanted to, do for a long time. Scale up your knowledge and chase your passion too.
- Plan a vacation
Do not forget to give yourself a break from everything. And make time for yourself.
You deserve it OK.
- Start meditating
If you don’t like exercising start with meditation and I am sure you would love it.
- Spend time without the phone
It’s the need of the hour
These things might look small but these are the things that make a difference.
“Don’t be pushed around by the fears in your mind. Be led by the dreams in your heart.”
― Roy T. Bennett
Bottom Line
The best lesson we learned last year is not to take our health for granted. So make sure to visit your doctor for routine checks once in 6 months at least.
I wish you all a Very Happy New Year and I will meet you in the next year.
See you in the blogs.
