How to Build a Basic skincare routine for beginners

Why is skincare essential?

There is no perfect skincare routine for all but needs a lot of testing to understand what suits your skin type. Skincare is very important because when you have breakouts that dance show in the teens becomes a nightmare and that dull skin is a big hindrance to being confident. I have been there and know how it feels.

So here I am to talk about a basic skincare routine for beginners that everyone(men and women)should follow daily. I can bet if you follow the basics you won’t require any extra things to jazz up.

What are the basic essential steps of a good skincare

  • Drink a lot of water. Not only does it flush out toxins from the body but it also keeps the skin and lips hydrated.

  • Once in a week give your skin a nice massage with oil(if you have dry skin ) or aloe gel (if you have oily skin). This will improve blood circulation making you feel relaxed.

  • Steaming is always underrated but whenever you go to a salon for a spa they give steam to your face. Why? Because it helps open up the pores to clear impurities. When your pores are clear anything nutritious applied on the skin works like magic. I would highly recommend using a homemade face pack after steam to get the best results.
  • Scrub: Scrub your face with homemade scrub. A mixture of sugar and coffee works well for scrubbing. You can try any scrub available in the market. But make sure to do it twice in a week.
  • Facepacks: Use facepacks for a rejuvenated and plumpier skin. You have many facepack variants that serve different purposes like pore minimizing, moisturizing, tightening, etc. Use whichever suits your purpose.

  • Use only cold water to wash your face. Never use hot water to wash the face, it makes skin dry and dull.

Avoid these mistakes in skincare

  • Washing the face is essential and basic skincare to do. Wash your face with facewash once in the morning while bathing and once at night before sleeping. You don’t need to use facewash first thing in the morning. Use it only once during the shower that will remove the extra oil from the skin because your pores will be open due to the steam created during the bath. Do not use soap on your skin.
  • Moisturize your skin immediately after the bath when your skin is damp. This is equivalent to moisturizing 10 times during the day.

  • Sunblock is not a luxury it is an essential. Need not tell you how bad is direct skin exposure to the sun. Not only does is harm the skin but also darkens the skin. In worst cases, it has proven to cause skin cancer. So this is a very basic skincare product for beginners.

Here is a video guide to making a DIY sunscreen at home.

  • Don’t overdo it. Let your skin breathe. The way we do fast is to give our digestion system a break. Similarly, give your skin a break from everything during the night. Because during the day Sunblock is a must even if you are not going anywhere.
  • Don’t eat junk- We take care of our skin from the outside if we stuff ourselves with junk and fried food it’s of no use. Once in a while indulgence is fine but if you are a foodie with a large appetite then you better compensate it with a good amount of workouts. I have talked about the benefits of exercising in my other posts too. Find them below:

What else?

  • Try to eat clean. Since we are what we eat.
  • Use good quality products for your skin. Don’t go for trends.
  • Another essential and basic skincare tip for beginners would be to test any new product before using it on the skin.
  • Let your vanity box have fewer products but the ones that you really need.

These are very simple things but often we forget the basics.

Let me know if you are interested in knowing homemade face wash, and face wash recipes from me. Would be happy to share them in my upcoming posts. Make sure to share the post with your favorite guys and gals and remind them to do the basics.
